WESTPORT — Summer has officially started insofar as beach stickers are now required at Compo, Old Mill and Burying Hill Beaches.
Sunday afternoon, however, owing to cooler weather, there weren’t many visitors taking advantage of it.

Cool, quiet, and with people still walking dogs at Compo every day, including yesterday, the official start of Beach Emblem Day. I see them on my bike rides and I wonder, if they are dropped in by drones. Then there was the driver driving in the opposite direction along Soundview Ave. Perhaps, though I don’t believe so, the same one driving the wrong way downtown on Main Street? Yes, cool and quiet. Or the high school student gunning his SUV by exit 41 and going against traffic across a double solid yellow line to pass me to get to the Y. Yes. Cool and quiet all around Westport and it’s not even Memorial Day.
