WESTPORT — A $10,000 grant was recently presented to Westport Book Sale Ventures — the nonprofit that operates the Westport Library’s book sales and the Westport Book Shop — by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation to support its employment program for adults with disabilities.

The mission of Westport Book Sale Ventures is “to provide meaningful employment for adults with disabilities, while raising support for the Westport Library, through used book sales,” according to a statement from the group.

The Westport Book Shop now provides part-time employment, with training in job and workplace skills, for nine people with differing abilities. The nonprofit shop is located at 23 Jesup Road.

“Grants like this help provide the means to offer competitive employment and job training for a segment of our community that is greatly underserved,” Jocelyn Barandiarán, president of Westport Book Sale Ventures, said in a statement announcing the grant.
