WESTPORT–Ladies and gentlemen, unfurl your napkins!
March is Westport Sandwich Month as the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce presents year eight of the Great Westport Sandwich Contest.
On Monday, March 2 at noon, First Selectman Kevin Christie will proclaim the month of March as Westport Sandwich Month. The will take place at the Old Mill Grocery, 222 Hillspoint Road, Westport.
The contest entails 21 sandwich-making restaurants, delis and markets competing in ten different categories. Judging will be done by the residents of the town by voting on-line for each category. Furthermore, by voting, each participant is entered into a drawing to win a free sandwich from one of the ten winning restaurants. Thousands of votes have been cast since these contests have been held.
“This is a fun way for our community to interact, support our local restaurants, delis and markets and of all get to eat lots of sandwiches,” said Matthew Mandell, Executive Director of the Chamber. “It’s all about creating experiences and this will be a positive for everyone; businesses, residents and of course the town as a whole.”

Each venue may compete in up to four categories, and can win in no more than two categories.
The contest will run from March 1-31; winners will be announced in April.
