WESTPORT — Winners of the Westport Transit District’s annual poetry contest have been announced.
This year’s contest challenged entrants to write acrostic-style poems — first letter of each line spells out a phrase vertically — to promote the Wheels2U Westport bus service. Entries were judged by Peter Gold and Karina Betfarhad, transit district directors, and Diane Meyer Lowman, Westport poet laureate emeritus.
Winners receive gift certificates to Westport restaurants of their choice, according to the transit district.
