WESTPORT — More than $1.2 million in CT Humanities grants have been awarded to cultural organizations in the 26th state Senate District.

The grants, which support organizations in the arts, history and humanities fields in the seven-town legislative district, were announced by state Sen. Ceci Maher, D-26.

The area grants are part of nearly $31 million allocated statewide for 2022-23 “to support CT Humanities’ mission of connecting people to cultural and humanities organizations via grants, partnerships and collaborative programs,” according to the announcement.

Seventeen of the grants were awarded to Westport-based organizations, including:

Beechwood Arts & Innovation, $7,300; Blau House & Gardens, $6,700; Earthplace, $75,100; Fairfield County Chorale,  $9,200, and JIB Productions/Play With Your Food, $8,300.

Also, Levitt Pavilion, $22,700; MoCA Westport, $33,100; Suzuki Music School of Westport, $35,000; Artists Collective of Westport, $5,200; Remarkable Theater, $13,000, and Theatre Artists Workshop, $5,400.

And, Westport Community Theatre, $6,300; Westport Country Playhouse, $5,000; Westport Museum for History & Culture, $14,300; Westport Public Art Collections, $5,600; Westport School of Music, $11,600, and Westport Writers Workshop, $8,300.
