
WESTPORT — A local poet’s new work and humor in the arts will be explored in two programs hosted by the Westport Arts Advisory Committee at the Westport Library.
Both events are free and open to the public. The library is at 20 Jesup Road.
Thursday, Nov. 14, 7 p.m.: Jessica Noyes McEntee, a former Westport poet laureate, will discuss her new poetry chapbook, “Freda Kahlo Awakes to Find Diego Rivera in the Mood & Other Poems.” She will be joined by Nancy Diamond, the WAAC co-chair. To register to attend, click here.
McEntee currently teaches fiction writing at the Westport Writers Workshop.
Sunday, Nov. 17, 2 p.m.: A “TEA Talk” on the theme, “Humor in the Arts: When a Ha-ha is a No-no,” will focus on challenges of balancing respect and inclusivity in contemporary humor, as well as changing audience expectations, irony and absurdity in art, and the role played by social media. A panel discussion of the topic, moderated by Diamond, will include: Matt Davies, Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist; Olivia Levine, writer, actor and comedian; Norm Siegel, satirical fine artist, and Frederick Stroppel, playwright and screenwriter.
