FAIRFIELD–Westport Journal movie reviewer Susan Granger will be on hand this weekend to provide insight and texture to the screening of two outstanding Hollywood pictures.

Sullivan’s Travels

“Sullivan’s Travels” will be screened on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Fairfield’s Community Theatre at 1 p.m.

Released in 1941, “Sullivan’s Travels” features Joel McCrae and Veronica Lake in one of Preston Sturges’ most captivating comedies.

Granger will be joined by Peter McCrea, the son of actor Joel McCrea. 

Dog Day Afternoon

Dog Day Afternoon” will be screened on Sunday, Sept. 14 at the Community Theatre at 5 p.m.

Granger will be joined by actor Chris Sarandon. Sarandon was nominated for an Oscar for his performance as Leon Shermer. 

The 1975 film was directed by Sidney Lumet; it portrays an amateur’s attempt to rob a bank on a hot summer day in Brooklyn.
