NORWALK — An upcoming exhibition at the Norwalk Art Space will bring together several people involved in the fiber arts to explore how the medium can illustrate the concept of community.

An opening reception for “Threads of Community” will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15th, at the Norwalk Art Space. The exhibition will be on view through March 12th.

Threads of Community notes how fiber arts — including weaving, stitching, crochet, embroidery, knitting, and construction with fiber — rely on techniques that are often passed on through families and across generations, while others use new methods such as stitching with staples or “painting” with fabric tubes to expand the medium. The Norwalk Art Space says the exhibition “reminds us that community is not a single thread, but a tapestry — woven from many hands, stories, and shared experiences.”

Featured artists will include Faustin Adeniran, Carlos Biernnay, Naomi Clark, Linda Colletta, Ruben Marroquin, Sooo-z Mastropiece, Christina Morrow, and Liz Squillac.
