WESTPORT — “StoryFest,” a three-day literary celebration of writing and authors across a range of genres and perspectives, opens its 2024 chapter this week at the Westport Library.

The event — Friday, Sept. 20, through Sunday, Sept. 22 — will feature a diverse slate, with best-selling authors discussing their craft, panel discussions on a variety of topics and themes, live podcasts, how-to workshops, and a tribute to a publishing and community icon.

A few highlights include:

Keynote program: Roxanne Gay, noted author and essayist, in conversation with Oliver Radclyffe, whose writing has explored issues of gender identity and sexual orientation, to mark publication of his first memoir, “Frighten the Horses.” It takes place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20. Sybil Steinberg dedication ceremony and book sale: The longtime editor of Publisher’s Weekly and critic, known locally for her “Sybil’s List” compilations of recommended reading at the Westport Library, died last March. She will be paid tribute at 1 p.m. Sept. 21, with an event that includes a sale of books from her personal collection of advance copies, first editions and volumes signed by their writers. Proceeds from the book sale will benefit StoryFest.

“Westport Prize for Literature” presentation: The 2024 award will be presented to Alejandro Puyana for his debut novel, “Freedom is a Feast.” The ceremony will immediately follow the Sybil Steinberg dedication in the library’s Trefz Forum.

“Lundberg Masters Series Presents: The Power of Story:” A program of storytelling by a diverse group of writers that incudes a puppeteer and a photographer. It takes place at 7 p.m. Sept. 21. For ticket information, click here.
