WESTPORT — Seven local arts and culture organizations will share in $170,305 allocated to 36 groups in the region by the state Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of the Arts.

The grants will be distributed to groups in five communities in the 26th state Senate District, according to Ceci Maher, the district’s state senator.

The seven Westport-based organizations to receive grants are:

Fairfield County Chorale, $4,457

Friends of the Levitt Pavilion, $6,470

MoCA Westport, $3,485

Music for Youth, $3,383

Suzuki Music School of Westport, $2,877

Westport Community Theatre, $5,792

The money will provide “valuable and vital support for their long-term operations, continuing education and cultural enrichment for countless people,” Maher, a first-term Democrat, said in a statement announcing the grants.
