WESTPORT–The Flying Fingers Jug Band is coming back again to First Folk Sunday at the Saugatuck Rowing Club, bringing its “jug sound of the prohibition-era South,” the band announced.

The performance will be the band’s third time headlining the monthly concert at the club, 521 Riverside Ave. Westport. It takes place this Sunday, Aug. 3, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Doors open at noon.

“Featuring an eclectic mix of musical implements including the washboard, string bass, jug, dobro, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, kazoo, mouth harp, and stove pipe to complement their gritty yet soulful appeal, (the band’s) diverse set fuses the energy of post-prohibition revelry, the vocal harmonies of bluegrass, and the authenticity of a juke joint, making for a fantastic live experience,” the band’s announcement says.

The Nyack, N.Y.-based band formed in 2015 when a group of Hudson Valley friends began playing together. In July 2017, the band made its national TV debut on the Food Network’s “The Kitchen.” Band members include multi-instrumentalists Dave Barron – a former Westport resident – Ron Rothenberg, John Spaw, Keith Olsen, and James Ballentine, with Ian Moore on fiddle.
