WESTPORT — Audiences can take a deeper dive into an art exhibition inspired by Connecticut’s industrial history in an event at MoCA\CT this week.
The CORA Foundation Community Conversation with Michael Borders will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5th. Borders will be joined by Richard Klein, former exhibitions director of the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum; Paul S. Lavoie, vice president of corporate partnerships and innovation at the University of New Haven and Connecticut’s former chief manufacturing officer; Catherine Egan, senior office manager at Bevin Bells in East Hampton; Sam Kusack, founder and president of Kammetal in Naugatuck; and Gena Wirth, design principal and partner at SCAPE, representing Manresa Wilds.
The discussion will explore the vision and process behind Borders’ Connecticut Industry mural. To create this artwork, Borders did extensive research on the history of the state and visited historical societies and chambers of commerce in all eight Connecticut counties. The mural incorporates industries that played an important role in Connecticut’s economy from colonial times through to the present.
The event is free due to the support of the CORA Foundation. For more information, click here.
