WESTPORT — State Rep. Dominique Johnson steps out of the political spotlight into the musical limelight, performing Bluegrass music on fiddle for the July 2 “First Folk Sunday” concert.

Johnson, a legislator whose district includes parts of Westport and Norwalk, is the guest artist, joining regulars Suzanne Sheridan and Ben Cooper, for the performance at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at the Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399, 465 Riverside Ave.

Johnson, who has played violin since she was 2 years old, learned about Bluegrass music from her grandfather, and has traveled Britain and Ireland studying and performing that folk style, according to a publicity release.

The First Folk Sunday series features Sheridan on vocals and guitar, Cooper on keyboards and guest performers like Johnson.
