WESTPORT – The final performances in a longstanding international music competition will take place this weekend at MoCA\CT, with three talented pianists vying for the top honor.

The Heida Hermanns International Music Competition will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 15th. The event will feature 45-minute performances by each pianist, followed by an awards ceremony.

This year’s finalists are Jiahao Han, Ye-Eun Hyun, and Zhu Wang. The winner of the competition will receive a $20,000 cash prize, along with an invitation to perform a solo recital at MoCA\CT the following year. The runner-up will receive $10,000, and third prize will receive $5,000.

The competition is named for the pianist, teacher, and philanthropist who founded the Connecticut Alliance for Music. This year marks the 49th time the event has been held since the first competition in 1972.

A preliminary selection of musicians is made from online submissions as well as an in-person final round. The event is intended to be a “platform for emerging artists to gain recognition and connect with the global music community.”

Tickets for the event at $90 and include food and beverages served after the performances. Student tickets are $20, and MoCA\CT members receive a 10% discount.
