The production, which chronicles the misadventures of a human orphan raised by Santa’s elves who sets out to find his father, “is not just putting the movie onstage — it expands on the creativity and charm of the film. But don’t worry, your favorite lines are still there,” David Roth, the co-director with Kerry Long, said in a publicity statement for the show.

Sara Stanley and Will McCrea as Jovie and Buddy in a scene from “Elf,” which a double cast from the Staples Players will bring to the stage Nov. 15-17 and Nov. 21-23.

A Staples Players double cast will perform the show over the course of its eight performances.

Seamus Brannigan, a junior, shares the central role of Buddy the elf with fellow junior Will McCrea. “Buddy is hysterical and has this childlike innocence that makes him really fun to play. I can’t wait for Westport to meet our version of Buddy the elf,” Brannigan said in the publicity release for the show.

Chloe Carson, a senior, portrays Jovie, Buddy’s love interest, a role shared by junior Sara Stanley.

“Jovie is such a fun character to play because she’s a little sarcastic, but also really sweet,” Carson said in the release. And Stanley added, ““The rehearsals have been filled with new and upbeat energy, which is vital to this show.”
