WESTPORT — Digital compositions created by Maj Kalfus will be on display in the artist-of-the-month exhibit for September at the Westport Book Shop.

The exhibit, featuring work composed using an iPad and the Procreate program, can be seen during regular business hours through Sept. 30 at the downtown book store, 23 Jesup Road.

“I have been exploring the limitless creative opportunities available with digital mediums. I tend to stay with subjects I am comfortable with, taking advantage of the color, brush and line options,” Kalfus said in a publicity release for the exhibit. “David Hockney is my digital guiding light.”

In addition to computer technology, Kalfus also works in oils, acrylics, pastels, collage, graphite and ink. Her paintings and drawings “are influenced by an extensive career in the fashion industry,” according to the publicity release.

Kalfus, who teaches art locally and the Silvermine Arts Center, is a member of the Artists Collective of Westport.
