FAIRFIELD – A concert honoring the late journalist and musician Daniel Pearl will take place this week, featuring the Avalon String Quartet.
The Golem: A Vision in Sound and Cinema will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 30th, at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for Quick Center members, and $5 for Fairfield University students.
The performance is part of the annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days Concert Series and is sponsored by the Bennett Center for Judaic Studies and the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County. The concert series occurs each October, with musicians from around the world staging performances to commemorate Pearl’s birthday on October 10th and honor his vision that the power of music can promote “Harmony for Humanity.”
Pearl, a Wall Street Journal reporter, was murdered in 2002 after he was kidnapped by jihadist militants in Pakistan. A classically trained musician, Pearl was a skillful player of the violin, fiddle, and mandolin.
