The pavilion, in announcing the singer’s booking Thursday, scheduled Lauper’s fundraising performance for 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30.
Tickets for Levitt members are now on sale.
Tickets for the general public can be booked online, via the Levitt website, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 23, according to a publicity release.
A gala cocktail party is planned at Don Memo and Walrus Alley downtown in advance of the performance. For details about that event and gala sponsorship packages, check the Levitt website.
Lauper gained fame in the early 1980s with a debut album that featured classics like “Girls Just to Have Fun,” “Time After Time” and “All Through the Night.”
Since then, the singer has been nominated for 15 Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, seven American Video Awards and 18 MTV Awards.
In 2012, she published a best-selling autobiography, “Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir,” and two years later was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
In 2013, Lauper became the first solo woman to win a Tony Award for Best Original Score (music and lyrics) for the musical, “Kinky Boots.” She also contributed a Tony-nominated song to the score of the Broadway musical, “SpongeBob SquarePants,” and is currently writing a score for the Broadway adaptation of the 1988 movie, “Working Girl.”
Also currently in production is a documentary, “Let The Canary Sing,” chronicling Lauper’s decades-long career.
Lauper is also known for her advocacy in support of human-rights and social-justice causes, particularly on behalf of women, people with HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQ community.
In 2008, she founded the charity, True Colors United, which addresses homelessness among LGBTQ youth.
