FAIRFIELD — Local audiences will have a chance to see an internationally celebrated contemporary dance company this week as BODYTRAFFIC performs at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

The performance will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20th. Led by artistic director Tina Finkelman Berkett, the Los Angeles-based group BODYTRAFFIC has the simple goal of inspiring audiences to love dance, while also supporting both established and emerging choreographers.

The program for the Quick Center performance will include two pieces choreographed by Trey McIntire, each inspired by popular musicians of the 20th century. The first piece will be set to music by the soul icon Etta James, while the other will feature the music of rock and roll legend Buddy Holly.

In addition, the evening will include choreographer Matthew Neenan’s “I Forgot to Start,” a work that “balances joy and grief to illuminate the relentlessness of hope.” This piece will feature the music of Sinéad O’Connor, Broken Social Scene, Sufjan Stevens, and others.

Tickets are $35 for general admission, $25 for Quick Center members, and $5 for Fairfield University students. For more information, visit quickcenter.fairfield.edu.
