WESTPORT — Laura Linney, an actress known for award-winning roles in film, television and theater, will be the honoree at this year’s “Booked for the Evening” fundraiser at the Westport Library.

The event, the library’s major annual fundraiser, will take place July 13. Tickets will go on sale in May.

“Booked for the Evening,” marking its 24th year, honors someone “whose work reflects the purpose of the library: to nurture a love of learning and to enhance our understanding of the world,” according to a press release about the event.

Last year’s honoree was Shonda Rhimes, television creator and producer.

Linney’s most recent television role is in “Ozark,” for which she has earned Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

Her film credits include “You Can Count on Me,” “Mystic River,” “Love Actually,” “The Truman Show” and “Nocturnal Animals.”

On Broadway, she has performed in “The Crucible,” “Time Stands Still,” “Sight Unseen” and “Six Degrees of Separation.”

In addition to her “Ozark” role, Linney’s other television appearances include the series, “Tales of the City,” “The Big C,” “Frasier” and the mini-series “John Adams.”

Over the course of Linney’s career, she has won four Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a SAG Award and a National Board of Review Award.

The actress also been nominated three times for an Academy Award, five times for a Tony Award and once for a BAFTA Award.

Linney holds honorary doctorates from her alma maters, Brown University and the Julliard School. She has been honored for her cancer-advocacy work, and speaks on issues that include “reconsidering the arts as essential for success, easing the pain of cancer and finding beauty in tragedy, and navigating gender inequality in the film industry,” according to a library publicity release.
