WESTPORT–There were 13 Staples girls basketball players who logged significant minutes, all of them contributing to the point total, in a 74-26 win over visiting Westhill of Trumbull on Friday.

The Wreckers led 23-4 after one quarter and 38-8 at halftime.

Freya Harvey scored 13 points, two assists and three rebounds. Emma Asiel had nine points, four assists and three rebounds.

Addie Talbott logged eight points, 10 steals and five rebounds. Sadie Katzner scored eight points and had a trio of rebounds.

Sam Selig, Chloe Smith, Olivia Lambert, Maeve Best, Hope Vengrow and Millie DiGiovanni all scored five points. Kennedy Do and Marley Belzer both had four points. Riley Caney grabbed six rebounds to go along with a point and a pair of steals.

The Wreckers are scheduled to close out the regular season Monday at Ridgefield at 5:30 p.m. If the anticipated nor’easter hits then the game will be rescheduled, likely for the next day. The FCIAC playoffs begin later this week. Staples is 12-2 in conference play and competing for the No. 2 spot behind Greenwich and Ridgefield is 10-4 and vying for the No. 4 spot.
