WESTPORT — A rugby clinic and scrimmage for girls will be hosted Sunday by the Staples High girls rugby team.

The activities are planned from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the high school’s main stadium field, 70 North Ave. Refreshments will be provided.

Members of the University of New Haven women’s rugby team will be on hand to demonstrate techniques and skills to high school players.

Organizers hope current members of the Staples girls team are able to attend, but encourage girls new to the sport who may be interested in playing rugby next year also will turn out. The team is hoping to assemble a full roster of 24 girls for the spring 2025 season, which will enable the opportunity to play games of ten or 15 players.
