NORWALK — The annual showcase of classic and exotic cars, honoring the legacy of a well-known Westport police officer, will take place Sunday.

The Vincent Penna Jr. Memorial Car Show, organized by the Italian American Police Society of Southern Connecticut, is set from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11,  at 148 East Ave. Admission is free. (Rain date is August. 18.)

The event raises money for the Vincent Penna Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in memory of Penna, a 26-year member of Westport’s police force who rose to the rank of deputy chief before retiring in 2017. He died unexpectedly in 2020. The fund supports scholarships for local children.

The car show will feature hundreds of vehicles. There is a $20 fee to enter a vehicle, with no deadline. Trophies will be awarded in various categories.

More than $30,000 in cash and prizes is being offered, according to event organizers, including a raffle.

There also will be food and entertainment.
