WESTPORT — As part of the state’s continuing project to upgrade the Interstate 95 corridor through Westport and Norwalk, the highway’s Exit 17 southbound on- and off-ramps will be closed Thursday night into early Friday.
The closure, according to the state Department of Transportation, will allow crews to mill and repave the ramps at Saugatuck Avenue from 8 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.
The work is part of the larger reconstruction project that included replacement of the I-95 bridge over Saugatuck Avenue last fall.
According to the DOT, while the southbound Exit 17 ramps are closed, traffic detours will be enforced as follows:
I-95 southbound Exit 17 off-ramp:
Traffic will be detoured off the highway at Exit 18 to the Sherwood Island Connector to Post Road East and then to Riverside Avenue to Saugatuck Avenue.
I-95 southbound Exit 17 on-ramp:
Traffic will be detoured via I-95’s Exit 17 northbound on-ramp to Exit 18 and then back onto I-95 southbound via Exit 18’s on-ramp.
