The Staples High girls basketball team put together consecutive wins this week, improving to a 7-7 record overall and 5-4 in FCIAC play, one victory away from state playoff qualification.

The Wreckers followed up a 64-46 home win over Darien on Tuesday with a 48-31 triumph at Greenwich on Friday.

In the win over Greenwich, Sarah VonDohlen poured in 27 points, a nice encore to her 25-point performance against Darien. In the Greenwich game, she nailed five 3-pointers. Freya Harvey scored seven, Marley Belzer had six and Chloe Smith tacked on five.

In the previous win, Smith, a freshman, logged 15 points.

The Wreckers return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, with a visit to Wilton. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
