WESTPORT — Coming off a Senior Night win over Bridgeport Central, the Staples High boys basketball team came up short trying to win a third consecutive game, falling 51-44 to visiting Fairfield Warde on Monday.

Chris Zajac led Staples with 20 points, Adam Udell scored six, Cody Sale had seven and Sam Clachko added three, with Sale and Clachko each connecting from downtown.

In the Wreckers’ previous game, a 67-51 win over Central on Feb. 10, Sale scored 23, Zajac had 20 points to go along with eight rebounds, Clachko had 11 and Charlie Honig added nine points.

Staples next visits Norwalk at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15,  and returns home at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, to entertain St, Joseph.
