Following is an opinion from Westporter Christina Torres.

I am joining the many supporting Lee Goldstein for Westport State Representative. Our friendship began years ago while serving together on the Westport Board of Education, where I saw firsthand how Lee led with fairness, conviction, and creativity. Even on issues where we disagreed, Lee always heard me out and engaged in meaningful dialogue—a seemingly simple quality that has become all too rare in public life today. When tough, necessary, and sometimes unpopular, calls needed to be made, she had the conviction to make them.
Her record speaks for itself. Lee spent two-terms on our Board of Education, and served as PTA President, playing a large role in getting Coleytown Middle School renovated and reopened. Her navigation of nuanced school budget issues and experience with our town Board of Finance will serve her well in Hartford. Lee has continuously supported town initiatives giving her the broad perspectives needed to advocate effectively as a State Representative.
What sets Lee apart even further is her genuine character. Years after my board service ended, we still meet once or twice a year over a meal to catch up. She is someone who doesn’t end collaboration just because official roles shift, and she has consistently continued to seek out my perspective over the years. In today’s political climate, that openness and authenticity might be the single best quality one could ask for in a candidate.
If you haven’t already voted, please make sure to make your voice heard! And I highly recommend taking a look at Lee’s record and seeing how she has clearly already earned your vote.
