Editor’s note: following is an opinion submitted by Westporter and chair of TEAM Westport Harold Bailey Jr.

Over the past six years as Chair of the Westport Board of Education, Lee Goldstein has built an outstanding record of leadership. Her expertise in educational policy and fiscal management, steady guidance, willingness to hear all perspectives, and ability to build consensus on complex issues have helped Westport schools achieve remarkable results. According to niche.com:

  • Westport teachers are ranked No. 2 in Connecticut and No. 42 nationally.
  • Staples High School is ranked No. 2 in Connecticut and within the top 1%
  • nationally.
  • Westport Public Schools is ranked No. 1 in Connecticut and No. 31 nationally.
  • Westport’s Superintendent of Schools has been named “National Superintendent of the Year” and received the national “2026 Excellence Award for Technology & AI.”

Beyond academic achievements, Lee has relentlessly championed social-emotional learning and programs such as “No Place for Hate” throughout Westport schools. She has worked tirelessly to embed Westport’s values of mutual respect and meaningful engagement among students, teachers, and administrators across all communities, making them an integral part of the district’s culture.

The Town of Westport would be exceedingly fortunate to have Lee Goldstein’s leadership as Connecticut State Representative for the 136th District. I wholeheartedly endorse her candidacy.
