WESTPORT–Staples girls lacrosse defeated visiting non-conference opponent Masuk of Monroe 13-6 on Saturday behind four-point efforts from Chloe Smith and Noelle Tybur.

Smith had a goal and played the role of playmaker with four assists and Tybur led the scoring barrage with three of her own, along with an assist. Maeve Best, Bryn Morris and Daisy Hackett each scored twice. Addie Talbott had a goal and an assist and Brooklyn Nizzardo and Brooke Tankel each scored.

Draws were pretty even with Staples winning 13 and Masuk gaining possession off 11. Talbott led Staples with four draw controls, Best and Smith each had three and Tybur one. Staples was coming off a 14-3 loss to powerhouse Darien, the top-ranked team in the nation, on Friday. Best scored all three Wrecker goals and Smith had an assist and six draw controls.

Staples, 6-6 overall, will visit Simsbury Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
