WESTPORT — The Staples High field hockey team, on the road for the last two matches, blanked the Brien McMahon Senators 10-0 on Sept. 30, but suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to Darien’s Blue Wave on Oct. 2.

The clash with Darien was a battle of teams unbeaten in FCIAC play. Leah Larit and Sofia Fidalgo scored goals, and Fidalgo recorded an assist against Darien.

Goaltender Paige Knesich kept her team in the game with 12 saves.

Against McMahon, Mary Stevens scored three times and Fidalgo had two. Oakley Wilson logged her first two varsity tallies. Tyla Ozgen, Leah Larit and Caroline Roschen also scored. Ozgen assisted three, Fidalgo had a pair of assists, and Alex Hackett and Emma Larit also had assists.

Staples returns to action at 4 p.m. Wednesday against Norwalk at home. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
