A short ride back from Stamford and a longer one from Glastonbury were equally enjoyable for the Staples High boys lacrosse team this week.
The Wreckers followed up a 23-1 triumph over Westhill on Monday with a 16-5 victory over Glastonbury two days later.
In the Glastonbury game, Ben Burmeister scored four goals, Charlie Iannone logged four assists and Adam Udell notched two goals and two assists.
Mike Nealon had a solid all-around game with two goals, an assist, six ground balls and four turnovers caused.
Gavin Rothenberg recorded a hat-trick with a trio of net-finders. Sam Eigen scored twice and set up another tally. Tyler Clark had a goal and an assist. Max Maurillo scored twice and Tristan Schaefer assisted a goal.
Sophomore goaltender Josh Marcus stopped 66 percent of the shots he faced and made 10 saves.
In the win over Westhill, Eigen scored four times and had an assist and Schaefer logged three goals and an assist.
Clark had a goal and three assists, Alex Hilton scored three times. Iannone had a goal and assisted on a pair. Udell scored twice and had an assist. Cisco Celotto, Aaron Kail and Tyler DiMaio all had two goals.
Leo Sequenzia, Nealon and Rothenberg each scored once. Burmeister, Ben Libman and Arthur Skatoff all had assists.
The Wreckers end the regular season Saturday when Ridgefield comes to town at 1 p.m.
Then it’s on to the FCIAC tournament with quarterfinal-round action to begin Saturday, May 20 (time and opponent to be determined).
