WESTPORT — Racist graffiti, scrawled on the Riverwalk along the Saugatuck River, is being investigated by police.
“Go back to Africa” was one of the racist tags scratched into the walkway, Police Chief Foti Koskinas revealed at the Thursday morning meeting of TEAM Westport, the town’s multi-cultural advocacy committee.
The vandalism, reported Wednesday by a concerned citizen, has subsequently been sanded off the affected area, he said.
The racist graffiti is now the subject of a police investigation, the chief added.
Koskinas told TEAM that any incidents similar to the Riverwalk vandalism should be reported to the Police Department, which takes such investigations seriously.
