WESTPORT — A 27-year-old man, allegedly involved in a domestic dispute, is accused of grabbing his victim’s phone to prevent an emergency call to police.
Gene Tsai, of Westport, was charged July 19 with third-degree assault, interfering with an emergency call and disorderly conduct.
A report filed with police on July 9 stated that during a confrontation the preceding night, Tsai took the complainant’s phone, preventing an emergency “911” to report the incident, according to police.
A warrant for Tsai’s arrest was issued, and he was formally charged July 19 after turning himself in at Police Department headquarters. Tsai was released after posting $50,000 bond and scheduled for arraignment the next day at state Superior Court in Stamford.
