WESTPORT — A 52-year-old man has been charged with violating a protective order that had been issued in connection with a domestic violence incident, police said.

James Hanson, of Westport, was arrested on the charge March 21.

Officers were dispatched to a local residence March 21 to investigate the report of a domestic disturbance, police said.

An officer sent to the scene “was familiar with the residence and parties involved, as there have been previous reports of domestic violence,” according to the report.

One of those parties was identified as James Hanson, who police confirmed was named in a protective order not to have contact with the resident.

Hanson was placed under arrest, formally charged, and since he was unable to post $5,000 bond, was transported for arraignment at state Superior Court in Stamford.
