WESTPORT — Extensive damage followed a detached garage fire on Evergreen Avenue on Monday evening.

Westport firefighters responded to a call of flames visible at a structure in back of an Evergreen Avenue house at 7 p.m.

There were several small explosions reported in the garage while the fire burned, attributed to normal garage contents, as well as the tires of a vehicle parked inside the garage that sustained extensive damage. Contents of the garage were also heavily damaged.

Engine 2 of the Westport Fire Department deployed a hose line to douse the fire, aided by firefighters from responding units.

There were no injuries reported.
