Following is the obituary for JEAN WANAT, submitted for her family by the Harding Funeral Home.

Jean Wanat, 78, beloved wife of John G. Wanat, Sr., (deceased) of 47 years, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024. 

She was a lifetime resident of Westport, and a retired owner and operator of Westport Electric, along with her husband.

Jean will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and zest for life.

She was “Grandma” to many and greatly loved. She was a lifetime member of Assumption Church in Westport and participated in many festivals throughout the years.

She was the daughter of the late Peter, Sr., and Jennie Palmer, and she was predeceased by her brothers Phil Palmer, Carlo Palmer and his wife Ann Marie, and Peter Palmer, Jr.; her sister-in-law Arlene Wanat, and her brothers-in-law William Wanat and George Wanat.    

She is survived by her son John Wanat, Jr., and his wife Sharon; grandchildren Scott, Jamie and Aryn; her daughter Jeanmarie Wanat and her partner Ed Mackowski and his two children Shelby and Eric; her brother Tony Palmer and his wife Susan; her sister-in-laws Rosaland Palmer and Judy Wanat, and many nieces and nephews. 

Friends are invited to attend funeral services at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m., followed by committal services in Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport.
