Following is the obituary for GERALD “JERRY” MINSKY, submitted for the family by the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Gerald “Jerry” Minsky, 78, of Westport, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Born in Coney Island, Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Abraham and Mollie Minsky. 

Mr. Minsky was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School of Coney Island, N.Y., the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, received his master’s in business administration from the University of Buffalo and was an executive in the finance industry and mentor for many years. He was an innovator of computer leases and tax shelters, and was involved with the program that put the first camera on the moon.

Mr. Minsky was a world traveler and always knew the best places to eat. He loved jazz and blues, and enjoyed cigars in the backyard. 

He played basketball, tennis and pickleball, and was a late believer in the game of golf. He was an extremely intellectual person who loved reality TV, and family was the center of his world. 

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne Minsky, of Westport; his devoted sons, Greg Minsky and Geoff Minsky; his adored grandchildren, Jack Minsky, Madeleine “Maddie” Minsky, Sadie Minsky, and by nephews, Richard (Som) Stein and Daniel (Wannarawee) Stein; great-nephew, Tankhun Stein, and his cherished dog, Mickey. Mr. Minsky was predeceased by his sister, Arlene Minsky.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 9, at 3 p.m. at Temple Israel of Westport, 14 Coleytown Road. To join a live stream and share a condolence message, visit www.greensfuneralhome.com.
