
Following is the obituary for DANIEL PURCELL III, submitted for his family by the Harding Funeral Home.

Daniel Purcell lll, who had owned the Sportsman’s Bar in Westport, died Feb. 10, 2025.
The world lost a great man and a special friend with his passing. A resident of Norwalk, he was born on July 13, 1942, at Norwalk Hospital. He was the son of Daniel Purcell Jr. and Frances Purcell.
In addition to the Sportsman’s Bar, he co-owned Purcell Moving Inc. with his brother Larry Purcell.
He enjoyed playing softball, boating with his family, tinkering with cars and trucks. He also enjoyed time traveling and time with family and friends. He played shuffleboard with his daughter Sandra at the Ukrainian Club in Southport on Monday nights, long car rides and flea markets. He was also president and lifetime member of the Screwballs.
He is survived by his wife Stacy Purcell; daughters Laura Romano (Rob) and Sandra Scotto (Rob); granddaughters Ashley Gorkin (Elliot) and Kaitlyn Scotto, and a great-granddaughter Olivia Barbara Gorkin. He also is survived by two sisters, four brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Barbara Purcell and his son Donald Purcell.
A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Club, 6 Mott Ave., Norwalk, on June 10, from 3 till 7 p.m. Condolences may be let online at www.hardingfuneral.com.
