WESTPORT — An information session on flood-mitigation programs available to Westport homeowners, organized by the Western Connecticut Council of Governments, will take place Feb. 22 in Town Hall.

The local meeting, one in a series led by WestCOG’s flood mitigation and project management services, will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Ave.

WestCOG, with its consultant engineers, offers technical services to municipalities, including Westport, and property owners in the region. The services are offered at no cost, and “are intended to help qualify eligible projects for Federal Emergency Management Agency funding programs,” according to the agency’s website.

Among the program’s aims are:

  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize federal and state assistance.
  • Prioritize strategies with the greatest benefit and relevance to flood hazard risks unique to communities in the WestCOG region.
