WESTPORT–With 28% of registered voters having voted before election day, Westporters are experiencing a calm day at the polls.

At Saugatuck Elementary School, where voters from Districts 1 and 9 vote, poll standers Bobbi Essagoff and Marilyn Smith were holding signs for some of the Democratic candidates on the Westport ballot.

Belair Drive’s Andy Ceisler said the experience of voting today a little after 10 a.m. was “seamless.”

Jordan Goldberg was helping Reichert Circle neighbor Devon Clark set up the PTA-led bake sale at the Saugatuck School. Clark’s son, Harrison, said he was “too young” to vote; her daughter Noa said she was “having fun” and that the bake sale “brownie was good.”

Erik Maki of Woodside Drive voted shortly after 10 a.m. at the Saugatuck School. Erik said he was “optimistic for the country and the prospect of overcoming ten years of Trump.” When asked what she thought, Maki’s wife, Inge, said: ”Same.”

At the library, where District 6 votes, there was a mid-morning lull. Veteran poll monitor Stacey Goodwin said it had been fairly steady all morning.
