WESTPORT–In a sign that commuting via Metro North continues to bounce back from the pandemic, the Westport Police Department is doubling the fine for non-permit holder parking violations at both Westport railroad station lots.

Effective on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the fine for these violations will increase from $25 to $50.

As reported previously, the number of fines levied has risen recently; on some days, up to 50 tickets have been issued.

According to the Westport Police Department release announcing the change, this measure is intended to ensure that permit parking designated areas remain accessible only to parking permit holders. Daily parking is available at both Saugatuck and Greens Farms lots for non-permit holders. The daily rate remains $6.
