Westport Pharmacy, a family-owned and operated independent pharmacy, opens today, Monday, Oct. 13, at Turkey Hill Shopping Center, 1260 Post Road East.
The goal of owners Kenneth Lee, a licensed pharmacist, and his wife, Susan, is to give personal service to their customers, no matter what their needs.
“We pick up the phone, we talk to you – something that you don’t get in a lot of pharmacies,” Kenneth Lee said.
Westport Pharmacy is the third local independent pharmacy opened by the Lees. They opened their first, Black Rock Pharmacy, in Fairfield seven years ago, and their Weston Pharmacy has been open for four years. Both have been successful, they said.
Walking into their pharmacies is reminiscent of the days when all pharmacies were family owned. Their team of two licensed pharmacists and two pharmacy technicians fill prescriptions, transfer prescriptions from other pharmacies, and offer vaccinations and consultation in a private space. But they also have an array of unique gifts, including greeting cards, toys, and specialty items just for Westport including a section of Westport shirts and other gifts imprinted with the town’s name.
And they deliver not only prescriptions, but basically anything available in their store. “If a person calls in for a Mother’s Day card – and they do – we deliver it to them,” Susan Lee said.
The Lees, who live in Weston, are very familiar with Westport and looking forward to serving Westport residents. “It’s been a long time since Westport had a new pharmacy,” he said.
They are currently working with town officials to open a drive-through window at their newest pharmacy, which already has a drive-through window installed by the former bank at that location. “A drive-through is a necessity for a pharmacy,” she said. “People who are sick don’t want to come in.”
On their pharmacy website the Lees invite customers “to drop us a line. … Better yet, see us in person! We love our customers, so feel free to visit.”

As a descendent of an immigrant pharmacist, I wish the Lees all the best.
Some of us might remember an older incarnation of the Westport Pharmacy name, owned by pharmacist entrepreneur Sid Siegel in Compo Plaza next to Gold’s back during the 1960s. Sid was a great Westporter — and he also delivered!
