WESTPORT–The Westport Library’s annual VersoFest was the best gathering of its kind.

The four-day celebration of the intersection of enterprise and art in the music, publishing and entertainment businesses was attended by more than 2,700 people.

Library Director Bill Harmer said that the library “presented 15 unique VersoFest events this year.”

Harmer added that he was simply amazed at how extraordinary Wyclef Jean’s performance was.

“Perhaps I should not have been,” Harmer explained. “The Library was literally at capacity that night, with nearly 800 people in attendance. It is the largest crowd we have ever hosted for a single program. What stood out even more was the makeup of the audience. It was a strong Westport crowd, with parents bringing both young children and teenagers. People were on their feet, dancing all night. It felt like a true celebration. We were given a world class performance by a world class artist, and the energy in the building reflected that.”

Harmer described how VersoFest fits into the library’s mission:

We are an agency for lifelong learning, but we are also a place where people come together across generations to experience culture, creativity, and community in meaningful ways. VersoFest continues to demonstrate how a public library can serve as a platform for connection and shared experience at the highest level.

Dates for the 2027 festival have not yet been determined.
