WESTPORT — Admission to MoCA Westport is now free for the next year, made possible by a gift from an anonymous donor, museum official announced Tuesday.

The non-profit arts center, whose full name is the Museum of Contemporary Art, Westport, is located at 19 Newtown Turnpike.

“This gift supports our belief in the power of art to educate, enrich and build connections between us — a power that should be equally accessible to all in the community,” Ruth Mannes, MoCA Westport’s executive director, said in the statement announcing the free admission policy.

The museum will also offer free drop-in studio time for children 4 to 12 years old from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays.

Bar MoCA, a full-service bar at the museum, will be open during Saturday and Sunday gallery hours in addition to a weekly “Happy Hour” on Thursdays, museum officials said.

The fall gallery hours at MoCA Westport, as of this Thursday, are:

  • Wednesday, noon-4 p.m.
  • Thursday, noon-7 p.m.
  •  Friday, Saturday and Sunday, noon-4 p.m.
