Storm forces closing of transfer station and yard waste site Dec. 27

WESTPORT–Cleanup from tonight’s snow storm will force the closure of the transfer station and yard waste collection site.

The Department of Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich announced that due to light holiday staffing, employees being redirected to the snow clean-up effort and an overall desire to keep people off the roads during hazardous conditions, the Transfer Station at 300 Sherwood Island Connector and the Yard Waste Facility at 180 Bayberry Lane will be closed on Saturday Dec.27.

Both facilities will re-open on Monday, Dec. 29.

Ratkiewich encourages Westporter to stay off the roads tonight and tomorrow unless absolutely necessary.
