WESTPORT — A fire that erupted in a small poolside structure next to a Burnham Hill house was extinguished late Monday before spreading to the main residence.

A firefighting contingent of four engines, a truck company and the shift commander was dispatched to the scene shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to a report by Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows.

The structure, standing close to the main residence, in Fire Department photos appeared to be some sort of poolside installation.

At the scene, the Engine 5 crew stretched a hose up the burning structure and quickly doused the flames.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and there was no fire damage to the home, according to the report.

Firefighters from Fairfield and Norwalk provided backup coverage for the rest of town while Westport fire crews were on Burnham Hill.

The scene was cleared about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
