Following is the obituary for ROBERT L. MANERE, submitted for the family by the Harding Funeral Home.

Robert L. Manere, 88, of Weston, beloved husband of Frances (Buchta) Manere and a former teacher in the Westport public schools, passed away at home Monday, Sept. 13.
Robert was born in Westport on Dec. 17, 1932, and was the son of the late Anthony and Angelina Manere.
He was a Staples High School grad and then went on to receive his master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport. He was a United States veteran, serving in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Robert was a longtime teacher in the Westport public school system and coached basketball, baseball and football at Coleytown Junior High during that time. He was an avid golfer and New York Yankees fan.
Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife Frances Manere, include three sons: Brian Manere of Bethel, Robert Manere and his wife Robin of Bethel, and Michael Manere and his fiancée Lisa of Hudson, Mass.; a sister, Shirley Candee of Easton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral on Friday, Sept. 17, meeting directly at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 35 Norfield Road, Weston, at 10 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 73 Greens Farms Road, Westport, with full military honors.
