WESTPORT — A ceremony designed to remember and mourn lost spaces will take place this weekend at MoCA\CT, complementing a current exhibition.
“Architectural Elegy: A Mourning Ritual for Lost Spaces” will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 23rd. The event is presented in conjunction with artist Ellen Harvey’s The Disappointed Tourist, an ongoing project depicting demolished buildings and other spaces that can no longer be visited.
The ritual will feature Dannielle Tegeder, co-founder of the feminist collective Hilma’s Ghost, who will lead a meditative ceremony to honor these lost sites. Participants will create “ephemeral memorials” by drawing or writing about a place they miss, and take part in a knotting ritual to create “a temporary community to support each other in our grief.”
