Lester Colodny who directed shows at Westport Community Theater passed away at the ae of 97. Proceeds from the last performance of each show went to Bridge House in CT. Bridge House helps those with mental health issues, providing support, companionship and advice. Lester had many jobs involved with theatre – worked for Dave Garroway in the early days of television, worked in Las Vegas for Steve Wynn, won an Emmy for a Jack Benny program. The theater honored him when he was 95.
Lester was a graduate of Brooklyn College, served in the Pacific during WW II. He has a granddaughter that acts on one of the soaps on TV.
I knew him as a loving cousin, son of one of my father’s five sisters. His wife was Liz Gallagher.
