SUMMARY:DESPERATE MEASURES : A Musical Comedy Gone Wild
DESCRIPTION:February 5 – 21\, 2027\n\n\nDESPERATE MEASURES : A Musical Comedy Gone Wild\nBook and Lyrics by Peter Kellogg\nMusic by David Friedman\n\n\nWhen the dangerously handsome Johnny Blood’s life is on the line\, he must put his fate into the hands of a colorful cast of characters including a mysterious sheriff\, an eccentric priest\, a narcissistic governor\, a saloon girl gone good\, and a nun out of the habit. Together\, they face uncharted territory as laws are broken and hearts are won. Before the sun sets\, will they be able to rise up and pull off the greatest act yet\, or will Johnny be left hanging?\n\n\nThis witty and wild musical comedy takes the Bard’s Measure for Measure and shakes things up with a toe tappin’ score by award-winning composer David Friedman. Featuring fresh and feisty book and lyrics by two-time Tony nominee Peter Kellogg\, Desperate Measures is fully loaded with laughs.\n\n \n\n\nTicket prices range from $51-$66 plus fees and can be purchased online at www.musictheatreofct.com or over the phone at (203) 454-3883. MTC MainStage is located at 509 Westport Ave in Norwalk\, CT. \n\n\nPresented as part of MTC’S 40TH MAINSTAGE SEASON. The 2026/2027 season of productions features: The recent Broadway hit HARMONY (Sept 11-27) telling the remarkable true story of the Comedian Harmonists; the return of an MTC audience favorite: ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE (Nov 6-22); the hilarious Wild West musical DESPERATE MEASURES (Feb 5-21)\, and the multiple-ending murder mystery CLUE\, based on the beloved movie and board game (April 4 – May 2).\n\n\nAbout MTC MainStage: Since 1987\, Music Theatre of Connecticut’s professional Equity acting company\, MTC MainStage\, has been bringing critically-acclaimed theatre to Fairfield County. MTC MainStage features Broadway performers and has a reputation for top quality as well as innovation. Past productions include Yours\, Anne (Connecticut Critics’ Circle Award Nominee)\, A Little Night Music\, Baby\, Babes in Toyland and Prime Time Prophet (at MTC prior to a successful Off-Broadway run). In 2008\, MTC MainStage’s production of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play won a prestigious Moss Hart Award in the professional division from the New England Theatre Conference. MTC MainStage productions are presented in its beautifully designed 108-seat black box theatre on the Westport/Norwalk border––a space that provides the most unique and intimate professional theatrical experience in Connecticut. Audiences no longer need to go to New York to see Broadway talent! MTC MainStage is committed to the resurgence of “homegrown professional theatre” in Fairfield County where audiences see first-class Broadway performers “up close and personal” on the MTC MainStage Studio Theatre stage. \n\n\nwww.musictheatreofct.com
